Peer review procedure

Once an author has submitted an article to the editorial board of the journal *Scientific
Bulletin of Kherson State University. Series: Geographical Sciences*, it
undergoes a double-blind review process: the reviewers do not
know who the author is, and the authors do not know who the reviewers are.


Criteria for selecting reviewers:

Possession of a PhD or DSc degree

Publications on the subject of the article under review

Publications in journals indexed in Scopus and/or Web of Science

No conflict of interest with the author(s)


Review process (up to 1 month):

The reviewer assesses:

Relevance of the topic and scientific novelty

Consistency between title and content

Quality of the literature review

Correctness of methodology

Reliability of results

Validity of conclusions

Quality of presentation and language


REVIEWER QUESTIONNAIRE


During the review process, reviewers also assess:


- compliance with the structural requirements of a scientific article;


- adherence to editorial conventions: titles, abstracts and
references must be clear, informative, accurate and complete; authors
must be identified by their institutional affiliation and address;


- adherence to technical requirements for publication of the article in
the journal.

 

Conclusion regarding the article’s suitability for publication:

a) suitable as it stands

b) suitable with minor changes

c) suitable after revision

d) unsuitable (please tick the appropriate option)

- does not correspond to the journal’s subject area

- inadequate research methodology

- insufficient theoretical/empirical justification of results

- other (please specify)


Revision by the author:

The author receives an anonymous review

Prepares a revised version

Submits a response to the reviewers’ comments


Final decision:

The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision based on the reviewer’s recommendations.


Forms of documentation:

Reviews are formatted in the journal’s standard form (REVIEW QUESTIONNAIRE)

All reviews are kept in the editorial archive for 3 years


Timeframes:

Total time from submission to the first final decision: up to 1 month

Time for revision: 7 days

Time for re-review: 7 days


Appeal:

The author has the right to appeal against a rejection decision within 10 days.
The appeal is considered by an independent member of the editorial board.


After the review process, authors receive
a confirmation letter stating that the article has been accepted for publication
